It means Khan will have to step up in weight for the challenge, which is a route that has seen some of the world’s best fighters come unstuck before.

Ricky Hatton found out the hard way about stepping up in weight, albeit against the best pound for pound fighter in the world, but it is still a path that is frought with danger.

Kotelnik has fought in Britain 3 times before:
2005 – he lost a European title fight to Junior Witter
2007 – he held WBA champ, Souleymane M’Baye, to a draw
2008 – he beat Gavin Rees to win the WBA crown.
Kotelnik is no stranger to fighting in Britain, which would beg the question, why would he give Khan a shot now?
Weight concession?
Purse concession?

It’s a mysterious web thats being woven here, Khan coming off the back of being knocked out last september and then beating a past his best, Barrera.
I hope he can do it, but if he does, will it be too soon for him to be defending against World Champions?
